In my opinion, Saxony as a research location offers good conditions for advancing innovations, especially in the life sciences. Excellent basic research at several universities, three large clinical centers (L, DD, C), a number of non-university research institutions with medical and technical research areas as well as strategic research funding from the Free State make the location attractive not only for the start-up scene, but also increasingly for large pharmaceutical companies. The BMBF future cluster Saxocell bundles expertise in the field of cell and gene therapies into a complete value chain from development to production. As far as I know, this is unique in Germany.
