The location of Saxony and Leipzig in particular offers an ideal environment for my research. As an archaeologist at the GWZO, I am currently working on late antiquity, with a particular focus on south-eastern Europe. At Leipzig University, I find professional links with both archaeologists and historians. Students from Leipzig University have been taking part in my excavations in Hungary for several years. The institutional network with other research institutions in Leipzig, such as the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography and the Max Plack Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, also offers an excellent opportunity for close and personal scientific exchange. Finally, Leipzig as a city also offers many incentives outside of work. I enjoy the music, theater and exhibitions on offer, as well as the green recreational areas that are ideal for cycling.
